Maple is a nice, hard wood and is ideal if you're seeking a clean, crisp look without a lot of upkeep. If anyone tells you it's easy to stain maple, they're lying: it's extremely difficult to apply stain without getting a blotchy appearance (in other words, do not attempt to stain maple yourself).
